The Sentinel (1976) is trying to be so many things, it hurts. From opening with a completely unnecessary church scene in Italy (The Omen much?) to the creepy neighbors having the main character over for a party (Rosemary’s Baby often?), most of the movie feels like an homage to horror films past. But then there are moments that are legitimately creepy, and one that’s downright fucking scary as shit. And then there’s the final 10 minutes when the movie basically decides it’s on acid.
I like this video because it showcases one of The Sentinel’s what the fuck moments, and I must say, it really does work given the sitcom treatment.
